This itinerary is developed in the territory Pavese and Lomellino. First visit Pavia: From the Middle Ages Pavia is home to one of the oldest Italian universities. The city was conquered in 572 by the Longobards, who chose the capital of their kingdom by the name of Papias. We head towards Bereguardo whose settlement developed around the castle built by the Visconti of Milan in the early fourteenth century to the control of a step of Ticino, from Bereguardo Gambolò where we head to the first evidence of human presence dating back to the Mesolithic (5500-4500 BC) have been identified along the right bank of the Terdoppio, Timely visit to the archaeological museum Lomellino. We stop for a visit to the beautiful churches of Cilavegna and continue until Gravellona Lomellina where archaeological findings date the first settlements in the area in the late Bronze Age.
