The municipality of Borgo Priolo was constituted in 1928, when the ancient communities of Staghiglione and Torre del Monte merged with it. The area was first registered in 1250 as the land included in the Oltrepò Pavese, as Burgum Pirrioli cum (with) Monte Santa Marie, where the second toponym stood for today’s Torre del Monte.
