The History
Bereguardo probably dates from the Lombard and Frankish invasions. It was part of the Campagna Soprana of Pavia and developed around the Visconti Castle. Built in the early 14th century to control part of the Ticino, it later became the recreation and hunting site of the dukes of Milan. Its name comes from “bel riguardo” (beautiful view) due to its position dominating the valley of the Ticino.
