The History
Its origins go back to the pre-Roman period. Its founders and earliest inhabitants were the Ligurians and the Celts who fought for the dominion over the territory before the arrival of the Romans in the late 3rd century B.C..
This ancient settlement, Camelio Mago was marked on the Tabula Peutingeriana, a sort of roadmap depicting Roman itineraries, with major centres, rest and horse changing stations.
