The report on the bishop’s visit that took place in 1596 says that “the Rocca castle with its quarter is under the jurisdiction of Fortunago in worldly matters and under the podestà of Fortunago. Together with the farmhouses and the villas there are 50 hearths and 284 souls" (Goggi 1973). It was mentioned under the name of Susella on the list of declarations of the hearth tax of the Principality of Pavia for the year 1537, as making part of the rural Congregation of the Oltrepò and Siccomario, under the jurisdiction of Montesegale.
